Venus Vexed

Okay, so I admit it… I really hate Valentine’s Day.
Yes, yes, I know. Venus is the first half of my blog name,
and I’m all about spreading the love.
But I am also continually vexed and perplexed by the romantic aspects of
it.
A few days ago while I was outside in my yard, I noticed
something weird in my periphery. Then I looked over and
did a double-take. There, lodged in the
side of my house, was a long aluminum arrow piercing thru the vinyl siding. My brain couldn’t even process what I was
seeing before me. An arrow? AN ARROW?!?! WTF??
I laughed in disbelief and puzzlement. I always knew that Cupid had a crummy aim
when it came to me… but shooting the side of my house?? Now that was ridiculous.
Yup, I hate Valentine's Day. Some things never change.

Epilogue: I was telling a friend about the incident shortly after I discovered the arrow. He insisted I make a police report about it, because it was vandalism, after all, and the feared Cupid Posse could be shooting at other houses as well. I felt kinda silly, but he was right, and I called. The police seargent said they would send out their forensics team to "process the scene". I kinda snickered upon hearing this, and Mr. Officer scolded me, informing that Virginia Beach's Finest take these matters very seriously. Later on, the black forensics Ford Explorer with the dark tinted glass pulled up in my driveway. "CSI" right here in Mayberry-By-The-Sea! A blue latex gloved police woman, armed with an expensive camera, carefully processed my crime scene via pictures. She pulled the arrow out of the siding and handed it to me, along with an eight digit number of the official police report. Stupid Cupid...

What?? It's 2007, and I haven't posted anything here this year yet???
No worries. My doppelganger and I are still around... mostly over at Needs More Cowbell. I'm enjoying the 75 degree January weather. But I'll have "Six" updates here soon!

Whew! I've been shopping and wrapping gifts non-stop for the last week! Now I can finally kick back and relax. Ahhhh......

Happy December, everyone! All's well in Sixland... Not a whole lot new, really. Mom's handling her chemo like a trooper, and I'm working as much as I can right now to save up to fly home to see her and Dad in the New Year.
For the most part, I'll be spending a lot of time posting over at Needs More Cowbell. One of my favorite things at Christmastime is singing the carols (and quite badly, too!). I've taken on the ambitious project of posting a new Christmas song every day... so if you enjoy hearing the songs of the season, grab a cup of eggnog or other suitable beverage, and come on by Needs More Cowbell and relax with the tune of the day! :) -Six
